Abstractum-types

Abstractum means "drawn away" and refers to the pull away from the concrete to the abstract; towards reflection, impartiality, and digestion of experiences and ideas. (I have given Abstractum the alternative name Meditationem which means precisely "reflection" or "contemplation.")

Abstractum is the most impartial and hidden (or otherworldly) psychosis-hylomorphism, which is connected with their drawn-away (absent minded) mental quality and energy for contemplation, seeking substance, and having great patience and mental capacity for concentration that is not distracted by the world.

"Contemplative energy"
As we can see in the theoretical model, I have placed this human trait as the reflection of the "vital" sphere in the intellectual or idealistic sphere. This might appear like a contradiction since Abstractum is the most physically passive instinct, lacking in vitality or energy, but it is important to remember that the lower sphere is more desensitized and "simple" than the other spheres (hence why I now more often refer to it as the "vital-desensitized" sphere). Rather, we find the vital aspect in their robust intellect that loves to chew and digest over a longer period of time on specific ideas and experiences. As a result they are more stable and consistent in their thinking than the other two Sapientiam-types, and tend to go more deeply into a few specific subjects or creative activities that interest them rather than possess a broader knowledge. More an economical and slow focus that does not waste time on triviality (the counter-pole to Fiduciam's wider curiousity and quick-wittedness) as well as a pragmatic rationalism. However, their creative activities may appear very impractical, or slow in development, which often leads to antagonism towards the world with an increased need to find essential knowledge – giving them a particular talent as social critics and necessary "outsiders" who can spend time on what more people should engage in but do not have the time or suitability for.

Function in the species
In mankind "as an organism," the Abstractum-energy seems to primarily constitute a function intended to support or ensure reflection, impartiality, objectivity, deeper understanding and substance, philosophical development, constructive passivity, demandlessness, seeking and patience, economic precision och consistency in thinking, patience and focus, less self-deception, intellect with less taboos, beneficial restraint in non-constructive emotional expressions, etc. Commonly an Abstractum-individual will reach the conclusion that something of this sort is their life calling.

Causal mechanism
The fundamental or central mechanism behind this energy that promotes its function and characteristics seems to revolve around a total mental digestion of the contents of the mind (thoughts, ideas, impressions, experiences, emotions, etc) that presses the instinct into cogitation, reflection, contemplation, creative thinking, and life in abstraction. In other words, it is a maximum of inwardness that easily cause them to end up outside the sidelines of ordinary life. This introversion or being pulled away from the outside world, in turn, is supported by a reduced or limited physical capacity and a reduction in worldly desires, making them more objective. Energy in general is connected with desires and enthusiasm, something Abstractum has less of than other types. A complete digestion of experiences, in turn, is also something that can saturate or dampen the thirst for the worldly. It also trains the memory. Thus Abstractum-individuals have a kind of natural spiritual quality that neither wants to rebel and assert their own interests nor play along in the prevailing social game.

And so the Abstractum-energy involves a tendency to be polarized in both a compliant obedience to the world in general and at the same time a need to avoid the world and seek maximum independence. Commonly, the accommodating tendency is a result of their difficulty in expressing and asserting themselves in combination with relatively weak desires, and is most common in early life when they are the most sensitive. What usually happens is that their difficulty with habits and unsuitability for what society demands, along with difficulty in deceiving themselves, means that they must do some sort of rebellion and become a seeker for something more essential in life. However, this instinct can have tremendous energy and passion for its specific mental or creative interest. Abstractum is not without demands put on themselves and have more super-ego than Fiduciam, but their inner demands on themselves are least related to what the outside world values. However, shame about their physical passivity and worldly awkwardness or "absenteeism" is common, and is difficult to separate from the norms of society.

Since I have placed the Abstractum-energy on the side of "raw nature" I have speculated that they have the least inhibited thoughts. But I think this is more an illusion that those Abstractum-artists and individuals with Exitium in their configuration can exhibit. Other types, such as Magnitudinem, may, for example, have more violent thoughts. What distinguishes the Abstractum-instinct is rather a high tolerance, equanimity and desensitization in front of abstract strangeness, as well as less idealism than the other two Sapientiam-types – not necessarily increased rawness in thoughts. More a "raw nature" of not judging as much as others or getting stuck in some type of moralism.

Personal, relational, and socio-cultural problems
At the personal level, their limited worldly drive and settlement in abstraction, which is easily bothered or bored by anything other than the inner world being focused on, can cause difficulties or lack of capacity to relate to anything else in the environment. It makes their lives meager and impoverished in the long run, especially in terms of relationships, since they also avoid the demands of people. They easily give up, do not expect much from life, and accept a minimalistic lifestyle or exclusion. As a result, they also perceive themselves as invisible, powerless, barely existing, and may wonder why they exist in the world to begin with. However, unlike other types, they are more honest with themselves and more often contemplate their personal problems with less self-deception. The difficulty in relating to others, as well as a sense of lacking in substance from not having anything to offer others, can lead to a painful suffering that is not visible or noticeable from the outside. Unlike Fiduciam-individuals who are more balanced in energies and rarely doubt their talents, it is impossible for Abstractum-individuals not to doubt their worth. But their pride can also prevent them from admitting weakness or seeking support, and makes them more cold than would be to their advantage.

On the relational level, they can be relatively easy to live with since they give others freedom and do not demand or require much (except requiring not to be subjected to demands), but it may take time for them to realize that they appreciate other people or even that they have fallen in love with someone, leading to a lack of initiative or necessary verbal communication. They rarely talk about what they feel and instead digest intimate experiences with more appreciation long after the fact, making a partner or family feeling undervalued or taken for granted. They can be very attached to someone without this person knowing it. Primarily, it is the lack of availability and difficulty in expressing affection that is the biggest problem in relationships. They have less problems with sexual intimacy since it is a more brief and non-verbal act, even though their desire for sex may not be very strong. They are genuinely cooler than other types and can sometimes experience that they themselves do not deserve love due to a sense of unsuitability as a partner or lack of interest in others, and they view children as a burden more than other types.

At the societal level, Abstractum-individuals, just like Fiduciam-individuals, are the most harmless as a group. But the sense of not fitting in or having substance, their difficulty in getting nourishment from the outside world, the inability to be taken seriously or being able to accomplish things together with others – as well as people's incomprehensible demands, incomprehensible ideals, and destructive stupidity – easily turns Abstractum-individuals into misanthropic haters of humanity who avoid society like the plague. This avoidance and invisibility makes societies worse since their presence and example are needed in the world, just like the other "Wisdom-types" in the Sapientiam-sphere. Asocial people have very little influence on the social plane, even when it should be in their interest. They easily perceive other people's hypocrisy, but in their lack of action (primarily in the form of disseminating information), they do not understand their own essential role in humanity as an "organism" and at the same time devalue others as being stupid. Another social problem they are contributing to is an increased sense of indifference and lack of human compassion or affection, even if this does not make them unique.


The influence of secondary instincts on Abstractum-types

With Misericordia (MIS) secondary in the configuration, their sensitivity, inhibition, resentment, criticality, complexity, avoidance, need for others' maturity, and tendency to be annoyed by others will increase. Perhaps the least expressive version that is more paralyzed, uncomfortable, bothered, awkward and stiff. Has more a self-concept of being "an adult" or "mature" (especially with Exitium co-secondary) and is the most intolerant of frivolity or childishness. Can be perceived as being pathologically humorless but often has a hidden, scornful sense of humor like the internet personality Maddox.

With Urbanum (URB) secondary in the configuration, their verbal ability, sense of humor, productivity, energy, capacity for frivolity, cultural interests and social skills in general will increase. Have a little more self-confidence and social ambition with more capacity for expression that can make them resemble Fiduciam. Less inhibited. Is often part of an unusual subculture and cultivates their self-image and external style accordingly.

With Libidinem (LIB) secondary in the configuration, their passion, naivety, simplicity, capacity for romance, quest for a soul mate, need for relationships that can satisfy needs, and even an anti-intellectual aspect that drains the intellectual tendency somewhat, will increase. Their increased desires also leads to their frustrations and risk of envy increasing, similar to Magnitudinem and Misericordia-individuals. However, this is rarely visible on the outside and instead shows itself (if at all) in dramatic artistic expressions. A bit more interested in beauty and in being attractive.

With Meritum (MER) co-secondary in the configuration, their need for academic education, interest in aristocratic culture, intellectual elitism, admiration for particular people, focus on competition, work performance, and haughtiness will increase. Can be contemptuous of ordinary people and seeks more knowledge and competency. More interested in ideals like the other Sapientiam-types and often exhibits a bit more enthusiasm. Increases the intellectual tendency.

With Corpus (COR) co-secondary in the configuration, their shyness, fear, difficulty in asserting themselves or rebelling, difficulty in expressing criticism, their reduced intensity, and their adaptation as protection will increase. Has an easier time refraining from things and desires the least. It seems that this type more often acquires a family, which may have to do with less selfishness and less misanthropy in general.

With Exitium (EXI) co-secondary in the configuration, their arrogance, desires, intensity, anger, sex drive, self-interest, and need to rebel against social norms will increase. More a will to "demolish" through the intellect (e.g. Friedrich Nietzsche). Often artists with dark and sexual motives (e.g. H. R. Giger and Luis Royo) where the exitiumic love for the primitive shines through. More fascinated by what is taboo and underground. Wants to find people they can show their own unrestrained inner world to without being judged. More a cynical provocateur.
