Meritum-types

   Fiduciam    Magnitudinem    Abstractum
   Misericordia    Urbanum    Libidinem
   Meritum    Corpus    Exitium

Meritum means "deserve" and refers to an orientation around merit, recognition, superiority and drive to be worthy and constructive. (I have given Meritum the alternative name Adorationem which means "worship" or "adoration" and refers to a reverence or appreciative love for particular individuals and for constructive culture. Other potential names I have considered are Dignum which means "worthy, appropriate" and Nobilem which means "noble, distinct, celebrated.")

Meritum is the most merit-seeking and self-disciplined psychosis-hylomorphism, which is connected with their love of role models who possess cultural merits, class, style, morals, and what they consider superiority.

"Constructive energy"
As we can see in the theoretical model, I have placed this human trait as the reflection of the mental-fantastical or idealistic (upward-looking) sphere in the vital-desensitized, sensory-motor sphere. The result is thus a less down-to-earth instinct or energy than the other two Morem-types and which wants to cover up what is basically a simple and primitive vital energy force with a refined, high and ambitious cultural aspiration. But their ideals are more based on physical, concrete action and behavior than love and relationships or abstract play and creativity. Meritum-individuals are, just like Fiduciam-individuals, often a type of "idealists" who wants to do good, but unlike Fiduciam they have a hierarchical view of the world where they hold their own group in high esteem, admire special individuals or positions, and look down on the mob and the masses. However, it is this reverence or admiration and drivenness that increases their desire to take responsibility and gives them a special talent as organizers, administrators, politicians, and active voices for aspiring constructive movements.

Function in the species
In mankind "as an organism," the Meritum-energy seems to primarily constitute a function intended to support or ensure constructive activity, appreciative love, reverence and admiration, cultivation, fosterage, concrete civilizing, determination, commitment and reliability, practical implementation and maintenance of new ideas and companies, natural counterbalance to laziness and impractical activities, conscientiousness, hard work, societal order, etc. Commonly a Meritum-individual will reach the conclusion that something of this sort is their life calling.

Causal mechanism
The fundamental or central mechanism behind this energy that promotes its function and characteristics seems to revolve around a reverent or upward-looking but at the same time simple or even unimaginative psychology that converts basic life energy in favor of driven worthy-making energy and presses the instinct to achieve various forms of excellence, appreciation, status, order and values that are often borrowed from the environment. The achievement of moral or cultural superiority is in turn something that then makes them feel entitled to make demands on and criticize or subtly manipulate others through the appeal to these cultural norms and values. It also becomes a way to satisfy hidden aggressions and desires. The enthusiasm for norms and merits is in turn supported by the inherent will to reverence.

Like the other two Morem-types (Corpus and Exitium), Meritum is often intolerant of lack of action and trivializes more sensitive people's experience of their own deficiency or psychological problems. Nevertheless, their elevated level of ambition and pursuit of merit leads to dissatisfaction with both life, others and themselves, which at the same time increases their need for aspiration and excellence. The Meritum-energy thus contains a tendency to be polarized in both satisfied, relaxed superiority with much reverence for others and at the same time an unsatisfied, condescending or critical attitude towards both itself and others which has an invisible neurotic base. However, their self-critical attitude is not something that leads to much brooding, speculation or self-questioning in the same way that it does for the more introverted and sensitive types. Hence the Meritum-pattern can lead to illnesses such as anorexia nervosa where self-criticism is subconscious, vain and seems to lack all rationality.

Personal, relational, and socio-cultural problems
On the personal level, their pursuit of a sense of merit and being the best can lead to a suppression (or even unacceptance) of their own primitive but natural impulses, which means that certain needs remain ignored or forgotten while at the same time being transformed into an engine for higher striving or recognition. This leads to problematic consequences, such as aggressive and sexual impulses actually increasing and leaking out, which can give them a kind of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde quality. Expressing themselves in general can also become difficult since the behavior that gets priority is various forms of "excellence" and social codes. They may become distant from others in their search for superiority, status, and authority, leaving them lonesome, as self-sacrificing workaholics, without love, missing out on the essentials of life. And they often do not know what they are missing, because just like the other Morem-types they are more thick-skinned, they do not suffer much, and thus do not question their lives and attitudes very often. But their repressed desires and taboos will instead give them subconscious anguish or bodily symptoms.

This also creates problems at the relational level where their need to be socially recognized and respected can make relationships more austere and fragile than harmonious, especially when they want to improve what they see as shortcomings in the partner, friends or children. It is not uncommon for them to rationalize a "tough love" to motivate people to strive for merit, but which in fact blames people for being what they are (and is thus the opposite of love since it is primarily the merits and not the person they love). They adopt a maternal or paternal attitude in relationships to give the impression of justification in the giving of advice and to pep others into more initiative, enterprise and effort, which becomes a common way of exercising control and interfering. Their appeal to norms also means that they do not have to feel responsible for their desires since they are allied with the culture, and this can make it difficult for others who feel suffocated and controlled in the relationship to argue with them if they do not take the time to also criticize the whole culture. Meritum often needs to experience reverence and respect for the partner in order to more easily be loving and intimate, but at the same time too much reverence can make them consider themselves as not being worthy of the other. It is also relatively common for Meritum-individuals to remain single or childless since their various commitments take up a lot of time.

At the societal level, their tendencies leads to the broader culture's demands and judgment of people if they do not meet a certain standard that remains unquestioned. The result is restrictions, prejudices and a narrow-mindedness among the elites and governments that assume a parental role for the people. Laws are often enacted to motivate people to act in a desirable way, and it can be said that the Puritan phenomenon is connected with the Meritum-energy. This suffocating over-control with socio-cultural rules, demands, prohibitions, and criticisms, will in fact harm people's ability to accept themselves and others, and leads both to self-loathing, class-thinking, and a desire to rebel. At the same time, the "perverts" and criminals get a complete monopoly on what is forbidden, which means that things that could otherwise have been regulated sensibly and taxed instead go underground where unscrupulous individuals who do not hesitate to exploit others gain power and are also considered more appealing and accepting since they do not judge people for their vices. People's "sexual education" happens through tasteless pornography instead of more erotic and spiritual sexual expressions that through taboos and norms are not given the opportunity to get room. Large costs burden society by keeping an unnecessarily large number of people in prison and also do not help the majority of them to change or improve since people in prison remain separated from the good in society. Much of what is called crime and immorality would not even be considered as such if it were not for moralistic governing Meritum-individuals who are neither moral nor represent the majority.

The influence of secondary instincts on Meritum-types

With Fiduciam (FID) secondary in the configuration, idealism, kindness, humor, desire to inspire, verbality, expressiveness and open-mindedness will increase in them. Not as rigid, especially in combination with Libidinem co-secondary, and has an easier time with pleasure and enjoyment. More "uplifting" content in their words and may have more creative sides or an entrepreneurial spirit, but is still hardworking and wants to see that people strive.

With Magnitudinem (MAG) secondary in the configuration, black-and-white thinking, accusations, self-criticism, aggression, irritability, authoritarian tendencies, and sense of entitlement in judgment will increase in them. Increases the meritumic tendency. Becomes less relaxed or confident relative to other Meritum-individuals, which can lead them to lie to build up their presentation. Should be feeling more guilt, but it is still difficult to perceive.

With Abstractum (ABS) secondary in the configuration, quiteness, pondering, after or underdeveloped tendencies, remoteness, coolness, introversion, and subdued energy will increase in them. More tendency to feel alienated among others. On the surface, can easily be confused with Corpus-types or meritumic Misericordem-types. The philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein may have been Meritum with this configuration.

With Misericordia (MIS) secondary in the configuration, sensitivity, seriousness, criticality, anhedonia, puritanism, intellectuality and tendency to anxiety or depression will increase in them. Their appearance often assumes an aging or overripe appearance with less physical beauty. More altruistic and "good" in helping, for example, the sick and poor. Increased pickiness and squeamishness (Sigmund Freud's patient "Anna O" could not drink water from glass cups after having seen a dog do so, while also suppressing this visual impression so that at first she could not explain why she had trouble drinking). The poet Sylvia Plath may also have had this configuration, but her self-destructive tendencies have also been speculated to be due to early psychiatric and irresponsible treatment methods which were later banned. But anyone who hears her talk in interviews and does not just read her texts can easily hear that she is a Meritum.

With Urbanum (URB) secondary in the configuration, energy, productivity, restlessness, verbal ability, sociability, adaptability and social skills in general will increase in them. Confidence increases along with the rigidity of their way if they do not have Fiduciam co-secondary to balance up a bit. Shows the least expression of anger but the most need for control and social influence. The least questioning of themselves. Can also be common in non-profit organizations and volunteer work.

With Libidinem (LIB) secondary in the configuration, impatience, physical beauty, aggression, reactivity, hedonism and consumption, fashion and vain elitism will increase in them. Can be easily confused with Libidinem-types and sometimes becomes an actor or actress (e.g. Lucy Lawless). The least intellectual Meritum and can even give the impression of a "bimbo" (but more "mom-ish" than a Libidinem). Asserts more their own will and has less trouble showing frustration. More vanity and insolence. Column writers and authors such as Linda Skugge and Maria Sveland.
